Freeman Aleatica Bottle Shot

Aleatico

The latest addition to the FREEMAN Italian inspired portfolio…. Sweet surrender!

VITICULTURE & WINEMAKING
The original old vine Altura Vineyard that dates back to the mid-1970s was planted with a diverse and rare selection of grapes. One of these early plantings is Aleatico most commonly associated with the Italian island of Elba, where Napoleon was temporarily exiled. Today it is Tuscany’s most notable sweet wine. The original four rows have been expanded to a hectare (primarily by grafting onto mature pinot vines) leading to our inaugural release of this appealing lightly fortified dessert style wine.

FREEMAN Aleatico is crafted from fully mature grapes that are de-stemmed, crushed and fermented for a short period of time, then fortified to stop the fermentation to preserve the natural sweetness of the Aleatico grapes. It is then aged in old barrels, settled but not filtered and racked before bottling.

TASTING NOTES
FREEMAN Aleatico is a cherry amber-hued, sweet highly aromatic wine opening with characteristic notes of Turkish Delight and rose petal leading to a fragrant cherry spice, silky and seductively long palate. Ideally sipped slightly chilled with summer pudding or other berry-based desserts.
