The Spanish origin variety tempranillo (meaning ‘early ripening’) thrives in the elevated NSW Hilltops region. The original tempranillo vines were planted at FREEMAN Vineyards in 2000.
TASTING NOTES
FREEMAN Tempranillo 2021 is a bright garnet coloured wine marked by lifted aromas of cherry, blackberry and spice, characters typical of Australian tempranillo. Medium-bodied with savoury chalky tannins balanced by an appealing earthy umami flavour spectrum and light oak frame from old oak hogsheads, this release resonates true Spanish Rioja. Ole!
VINTAGE
A pretty classic year, with a cool summer and mostly dry autumn, 2021 delivered a tip-top good crop of fully ripe flavour-packed grapes, picked in early March for this young spicy red wine.
