TASTING NOTES
A wine made for la Dolce VitaFREEMAN CORONA Corvina Rondinella 2016 smacks of briar and sun-ripe red berries over an umami savoury frame, that’s invitingly light-bodied and disarmingly mellow. Attractive generous berry flavours and soft persistent tannins combine to create this seductive easy drinking red that isn’t intended for cellaring.

WINEMAKING
FREEMAN CORONA Corvina Rondinella 2016 is a blend of two northern Italian origin varieties classically used to make two popular red wines – Bardolino (Lake Garda) and Valpolicella (Verona).

Unlike the flagship FREEMAN Secco that relies on the addition of dried grapes to the fermentation, this savoury red blend is crafted solely from freshly harvested Corvina and Rondinella. After pressing, the individual varietal parcels complete fermentation in stainless steel and are then aged for 12 months in old oak barrels before blending to create a mellow yet savoury ‘drink now’ style.

A wine that’s meant to replicate the fresh fruit of Valpolicella. It features intense aromas of almond and cherry, ample weight and texture in the mouth and some slightly chocolaty notes on the long, velvety finish.’
