Freeman Rondo Rosé is crafted from 100% estate grown Rondinella grapes and produces a savoury style inspired by the rosé wines of northern Italy that are also typically made from the Rondinella variety to create bronze pink, dry and refreshing rosé wines.
Meaning ‘little swallow’ in Italian, rondinella is a versatile and generous grape that relishes its adopted home in the Hilltops where at sunset swallows twitter and swoop over the vines that gave this wine its name.
The aim was to produce a savoury, salmon hued, spicy, dry rosé style and this first release shows great promise. Ornithologists would recognise the colour as matching the eye of a partridge, a bright salmony pink that complements the wine’s subtle confectionery and floral aromas and dry, refreshing and lingering palate. This wine is a delicious aperitif, or serve chilled with sushi, antipasto, or duck salad.
